Description
Acrylic Painting on canvas.
An original artwork made in a framework created with the use of vertical linen strips, representing her own portrait. She affirms that “this way of knowing myself enables me to explore the inward world in a symbolic way, and it remains inaccessible to the voyeur that can only guess what every painting means.”
“I describe my work as something spiritual, as a journey through different lives and different experiences within the same life just existing and asking last about the sense of living. Metaphorically the canvases recount states of being, moments of evolution and healing, spiritual problems related to death, which have been occupying my mind since I was a child; in particular, reincarnation and inner growth.”
A great work!
CRISTINA TROUFA (Porto 1974)
Obtained a degree and Ma aster’s Degree in Painting at University of Fine Arts of Porto (FBAUP). Throughout all of her works the artist deals with the topic of self-representation in order to strengthen the effect of conceptual reflection at a spiritual, emotional and psychological level. The figure is portrayed while playing, revealing or fighting herself. In her most recent works she uses her image in order to explore in a symbolic and surrealistic way her life and believes, as if it were a kind of self- interrogation.
An artist that is highly appreciated by the media, social networks and collectors. Her works have been exposed at numerous international exhibitions in Italy, Spain, France, Australia, Canada, Denmark and the United States of America. Some of these works make part of permanent collections, such as the one at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto (Portugal) or at the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography of Setúbal (Portugal).
